Many people suffer from heartburn and acid reflux.
Episodes of heartburn can be triggered at anytime from various types of food or meals. Additionally, there are a myriad of alternatives for treating or preventing heartburn.
For obvious reasons a few lifestyle modifications are necessary to any effective prevention strategy. Nevertheless, here are the ways to prevent the discomfort of heartburn along with several useful facts:
¥ Smoking a cigarette can heighten the discomfort of heartburn.
¥ Loose -fitting clothing is recommended for individuals prone to heart burn
¥ Sufferers of acid reflux or episodes of heartburn can prevent the symptoms by elevating their head approximately eight inches above the bed.
¥ After eating a meal, sit in an upright position to avoid heartburn. Try to go for a walk to improve the digestion. Individual who recline, lay down or go to bed right after a meal are more apt to experience an episode of heartburn or have acid reflux.
¥ Instead of eating a large meal, nibble on a small meal.
¥ Both spicy and acidic foods (in example hot sauce, tomatoes or even fruit juices) can trigger a heartburn episode.
¥ Try to avoid drinking red wines (Merlot, Pinot Noirs and Beaujolais) and eating spaghetti if you suffer from heartburn.
¥ Several over the counter (OTC) medicines can be taken to prevent heartburn. For example, antacids are effective aids that can be taken after the fact Ð but do little in the way of heartburn prevention. In the realm of neutralizing the acid, antacids work on digestive systems that already exist in the stomach.
¥ An H2 receptors can help too. Recently, proton pump inhibitors have been made available over-the-counter.
