Message boards, or forums, are a great way to market your web site. A message board will attract new customers, repeat business, and encourage customer comments and questions. Sadly, many internet marketers find that they have to close their message boards due to lack of popularity and inactivity. Creating a message board and promoting it effectively requires five key elements.
Create a message board for only after your web site is attracting a minimum of 1000 visitors per day. If you open your message board too soon it will make your web site seem empty due to a lack of new posts. Remember that not every one who visits your web site will visit or even notice your message board.
After your message board is in operation, post a few comments or questions to encourage your visitors to reply. Polls encourage participation. Create several polls and ask your visitors to vote on the topic. You may want to create more than one username for yourself and respond to your own comments just to put your message board into action. If your board has little activity, you could post a few responses to your own questions. No one but you will realize the responses are posted by you and it's a great way to get a response from other people.
