It is important to compare all aspects of a car when making a purchase, not just the fuel effeciency as the costs of a electric or hybrid car often outweight the gas saving benefits. When you buy a car consider exactly what you need in a car, such as the amount of people you typically haul.  Assessing those needs will help you determine which car would be best for you to buy while still meeting your needs.

Assess what size car you need.  Larger cars weigh more than smaller cars which means they burn more fuel.  If you do not need a larger car, do not buy one.
