The Truth About Diet Pills

A Handful of diet pills will help you to lose weight very quickly, but the majority of them are just there to get your money, find out how to tell the difference.

Common Diet Pill Scams Revealed

The Free Trial Scam - One of the most common practices of low quality products is the use of a “free” trial. Offering a “free” trial appears like a great offer to the consumer and seems to show confidence in the diet product being sold, but this could not be farther from the truth.

Look at the fine print! - The “free” trial will usually cost about $6.95 or more to ship, but will arrive with a $2.00 stamp. Low quality products usually cost less than a dollar to manufacture, with a $6.95 shipping charge they are actually making a profit with the “free” trial.

If it was a free trial, it would not cost you anything, that is what free means isn't it? The actual goal was to get your credit card number. When you sign up for the free trial you also agreed to be placed on their convenient “autoship” or “membership” plan which conveniently starts charging an outrageous amount for a low quality product, usually upwards of $75 or more per bottle.

I know, you'll just call to cancel right? Good luck, first you agreed to be put on autoship after about 14 days on average, but the “free” trial product does not arrive for about 10-21 days so you have not even begun to think about the 14 day trial as you assume the trial starts once you receive the product. WRONG! Your trial begins the moment you place the order.

Now for the fun part. The phone number on the website is usually only for new orders, to cancel you have to call a different number that either keeps you on hold for hours or does not allow you to reach an operator at all. If you finally reach an operator and cancel your order you will assume you will no longer be charged $75 per month, but they will conveniently have no record of your cancellation for at least a few months. How can they do this you ask? It is very simple, they made a crappy product that they had no intention of ever selling long term so they simply run the company into the ground, make a fortune and start a new company the next day. For legal reasons, I need to say that this is not true of all free trial companies, just 99.9% of them.

Here is the real truth, although we would all like to get something for free, quality products actually are very expensive to manufacture and just like anything else that is of good quality, it must be paid for.

You Can Buy it at Your Local SuperCenter - This is not really a scam, just a little known fact that has completely destroyed the confidence in diet products in the past few years. Ephedra was used as the main ingredient in most diet products as ephedra was inexpensive and effective, but then it was banned by the FDA. When ephedra was banned, the other effective ingredients became very expensive. If you tried to sell a quality product with these new expensive ingredients, the products would average $90 per bottle if sold in retail stores. Research showed that if you tried to sell a $90 diet product in your local supercenter it would not sell. To get diet products to sell in supercenters, they have to cost less than $20. Don't waste your money on junk in supercenters, it won't work!

It Contains The Ingredient Acai - I love the acai berry, it is my favorite antioxidant, I recommend it 100% for colds and overall good health as long as it is taken in its fresh, refrigerated liquid form. When acai is placed into a capsule, it loses it's potency, making it virtually useless.

What is the problem with acai in diet pills? Acai has never actually been shown of even implied to aid in weight loss any more than any other antioxidant like vitamin c or blueberries (except of course on acai weight loss product websites).

So why is it in so many weight loss products recently? The answer is simple product marketing.

Acai is Very Inexpensive This makes the diet product cost less than a dollar which allows them to combine the acai scam with many other scams like the “free” trial mentioned above.

Everybody Loves the Acai BerryIt would be hard to find a single bad thing written about the acai berry as an antioxidant or any side effects caused by acai when doing research. This makes it seem like there is nothing but positive feedback on their fake acai weight loss product before anyone has ever used it, as I said, it is a great antioxidant, but not a weight loss product.

The Acai Berry is Featured on Many Talk ShowsMost acai diet pill websites are as bold as to include videos or use the names of celebrity talk show hosts to imply that they endorse their diet product, if you take the time to replay the actual episodes, you will see that these celebrities actually talk about acai as an antioxidant and not about the actual weight loss product. These websites use the talk show host as a “customer testimonial”, but the talk show host never mentions the product, they talk about acai in general, talk about a scam.

If you still think acai is for weight loss, then just buy a bottle of pure acai juice for a few dollars at your local grocery store, it will contain about the same amount of acai as 5 bottles of miracle acai weight loss pills, except for a few hundred dollars less.

You can't find the ingredients list - Most products marketed today are actually very low quality, they claim to promote faster weight loss, a few, like Thermadrol actually do, but one sure fire way to tell if the product is worthless is if you can not find the actual ingredients list on the website. Most online product marketers make outrageous claims about their product, but good luck finding out what the actual ingredients are. Marketers of low quality products do not want you to know that the product is just caffeine, acai or some other low quailty ingredient based product.

Proprietary and Patented Ingredients - Many claim to have patented or proprietary ingredients and claim that they can not reveal the ingredients due to fear of another competitor stealing the formula. This is a complete scam, any competitor can send the pill to a lab and for a small fee they will tell you exactly what is in the formula down to the milligram. The only people who are unable to find out what is in the formula when you “patent” the formula is the customer, which is who they are really trying to hide them from.

If I was to recommend one product in the world, I would recommend Thermadrol, you can get Thermadrol from personal trainers or you can buy it direct at http://www.thermadrol.com

Thermadrol does NOT offer a “free trial”

Their website shows you ever single one of their amazing 20 ingredient formula.

Thermadrol is not sold in stores as it would be too expensive there.

Thermadrol does not contain Acai

They do NOT do autoship

Most important of all, it works, actually a little too well.

Your article above is very helpful.  I wish that I had read it before ordering my "FREE" trial.  I ordered two trials - one for ACAI Berry Pure and Advance Cleanse.  I was supposed to only be billed for shipping charges.  They then added me to their membership list immediately, as you suggest above.  They charged me $149.95 - TWICE!  Total of $290.90.  Then you try to call them and you get foreigners who can barely speak English.

But this is the worst part - I only had my debit card on me, and gave that credit card number.  A few weeks later, two charges in a state where I have never been were made to my card.  I was horrified that all my money would be gone; but it was just those two.  I have debit protection, so the bank closed that account, opened another one, and gave me credit for the fraudulent charges.

I wish we could place a big RED warning flag on their website.

I doubt that I will ever see the $290.90 that they took from me.

I've had the free trial for about a week and I intend to cancel.  Funny thing is my bank cancelled my debit card because they said that a merchant on line that I gave my number to had my number compermised.  Only the free trial is what I used it on.  good luck

I wish I had seen this before I ordered the acai berry pure. I cancelled and they just charged the $149 to my account. I am trying to contact them and have just been able to leave on after hours messaging.

Thanks for this article.  I purposely ordered both the Acai Optimum and the Advanced Cleanse because I wanted a huge boost of antioxidants and something to cleanse the toxins....not lose weight.  I was surprised to see all the weight loss focus on the websites.  But I had no idea I would get snookered into paying tons of money.  Fortunately, I JUST ordered and received the products so was easily able to cancel both....and keep by one month supply of both...which is all I wanted.
