Are you tired of looking at those piles and piles of pictures just lying there in a box?
Do you wish you knew how to make a scrapbook with all those photos?
A Step by Step Guide to Scrapbooking:
This is the most important part- Make sure that you are using archival, acid free and lignin free materials when creating a scrapbook page. If you are not sure if these items are archival, acid free and lignin free, be sure to ask, usually they are printed on the back of the papers, or packages.
Select at least 4 or 5 photos of an event. Out of those photos, you will need to create an order. Which photo is the most important? The photo or photos that are the most important are the ones that should really stand out in your layout. You can do this many different ways, matting the photo with one or more colors of cardstock, adding ribbon as an embellishment around the photo, or by matting all the photos and make the most important photo or photos overlap the other photos, so it really stands out.
Once you get your photos displayed on the page the way you like them, in a way they tell the story of the event or occasion, then create a title for that page.
Use coordinating colors from the photos, and photo mats, to be sure that it doesn’t steal the thunder from the main picture. You can do this by using stickers, chipboard, decorative papers, stencils, or by cutting your title out from a Cricut® Die Cutting Machine. Don’t be afraid to let your title flow through your page layout. It doesn’t have to be a one line straight title; it can be spread through out your layout, in waves, diagonally, or up and down.
Journal the event- It is very important to include the following information: who, what, where, and when. The more information you can include about the occasion or event the better. If you do not have enough room for journaling on the page itself because of the photos, you can create a pocket behind one or more of your photos for your journaling.
If you need to create this pocket for your journaling you can do this by only tacking the sides, and bottom of your photos, to the photo mat or layout background, so the top is open like a pocket. Then write all your information on a coordinating piece of cardstock or decorative piece of paper, and tuck the information into that pocket. Be sure to attach a ribbon, an embellishment, a button or flower to the top of your journaling tag to let people know that there is information there to be looked at.
Once you are completely satisfied with the layout you can now adhere all your items down to the page. Be sure to use a quality adhesive like the Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro. This is a really good adhesive because you only have to use a tiny amount.
Use 3-D foam squares to pop your pictures up off the page. These will create dimension on your page as well.
Once you have your title and photos adhered then you can add a few embellishments to your layout like flowers, buttons, stickers, chipboard, and ribbon, etc . Remember less is more and you should always use an odd number of embellishments, to off set the layout.
Once you have finished your first scrapbooking layout you will want to place it into an album with protective page protectors. This will help prevent the scrapbooking page from moisture, dirt, and dust. Be sure to store your scrapbooking supplies, photos and albums away from the direct sunlight, and heat as this can damage them.
