10 Tips for Places to Visit in France

The most obvious place that everyone should visit while in France is the Eiffel Tower in Paris, but beware because it receives a lot of tourism, especially if you want to go to the top.

Another great place to visit while in Paris is the Louvre museum of art.  It is home to some of the most renowned artwork in the world, including Da Vinci's "Mona Lisa".

The Arc de Triomphe is an excellent piece of architecture to visit while in Paris that celebrates those who fought for France, particularly in the Neopolonic wars.

Le Mont Saint Michel sits on a small island in a quaint village in Normandy.  The view from the top is astounding but there are hundreds of steps to reach the view.

 

Chateau de Versailles is the best known palace in France for its magnificent architecture and beautiful gardens.

 

You should also visit Notre Dame of Chartres which is a 12th century Gothic cathedral built on a Druidic religious site.  The stained glass windows are considered some of the best in Europe.

 

Chateau Fontainebleau began life as a royal hunting lodge and a walk through the illustrious grounds will convince you that the original use was quite appropriate.

If you are an art aficionado, a visit to Monet's home in Giverny will be a treat.  Exploration of the town will provide you with the sites of many inspirations for his best known works.

 

A visit to Bayeux will allow you to see the Bayeux Tapestry which dates back to 1066, commemorating William the Conqueror's victory at the Battle of Hastings.
